RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Hardware, firmware and motor design, under one roof.

Our R&D centre in Kochi designs the power electronics, writes the control software and validates the result, all in-house.

CAPABILITIES

Six disciplines, one team.

Because the same team owns every layer, a change in the motor, the inverter or the firmware is made with the other two in view.

Power electronics

Inverter and power-stage design for every series we make.

  • Power stages from 48 to 96 V, up to 16 kW peak
  • Up to ~97% controller efficiency
  • Sealed IP67 designs, rated for heat, dust and vibration

Motor control

Control algorithms written and tuned in-house.

  • Field-oriented control and torque control
  • Adaptive regenerative braking
  • Optimised for Indian drive cycles

Vehicle control and embedded software

Motor control and vehicle control share one unit, on firmware we own.

  • Integrated motor controller and VCU
  • CAN and UDS diagnostics
  • Over-the-air updates through the connected cluster

Functional safety

Safety is designed into the hardware and the logic.

  • ASIL A and ASIL B compliant hardware
  • Patented fault-detection logic
  • Limp-home capability

Motor design

We design the motor and its controller as one system.

  • Rare-earth-free EESM powertrain in development
  • Validated together for light commercial vehicles
  • Supported by an ARAI technology grant

Validation and testing

Every design is verified against a plan agreed with the customer.

  • Design verification plans and reports (DVP&R)
  • Thermal, load and endurance testing
  • End-of-line test development
LAB AND DESIGN TOOLS

Designed in software, proven on the bench.

Two dynamometer benches

A 5 kW and a 20 kW dynamometer bench in our lab. Motors and controllers are measured under load before a drive goes to a vehicle.

Simulation

Designs are modelled and simulated before hardware is built.

PCB design

Controller boards are laid out in-house with professional PCB design software.

Motor design software

Motor geometry and electromagnetic performance are designed and analysed with dedicated motor-design tools.

Test and measurement

The instruments on our benches for electrical and CAN communication testing.

  • DC power supplies, up to 80 V and 10 kW
  • Oscilloscopes
  • CAN analysers
  • CAN data loggers
  • Current measurement up to 500 A
  • Digital recorder
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Full-stack IP, developed in India.

Hardware, firmware, and the vehicle and motor control algorithms are our own.

  • 2021First patent granted, for a motor controller.
  • 2026First motor patent granted.
